REDD Blood and Guts

This last weekend was an amazing one. I enjoyed it to the fullest. I had the most amazing 'end' to my climbing season.
On saturday I took my family to Dicks sporting goods at the gateway and got them in on some free climbing. The wall there is run by a couple of friends, so it was a sweet deal. It is three stories high, roughly 70 ft is what we decided.
Syd rocked it up half way her first time, and then made it to the top on her next try! I was so stoked, and she really enjoyed being lowered afterwards...I hope Ive started her on an addiction.
Justin also climbed the smiley face holds at the wall as well, he did superb...couldnt let all of his younger sisters show him up! :)
I am super stoked that my family is down to try climbing, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Thanks you guys! Jeremy...its your turn!!

The next day, chris, sean and I headed up the thumb in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
It was about a 45 min approach, that nearly killed me. Then, we started up an eight pitch climb to the thumb. The weather was beautiful...like 60 degrees, i am sunburnt :)
The first pitch and second pitch were pie, we did them rather fast. Then, on to the hardest part... the 5.11c finger crack...granite finger crack. I screamed in pain up this climb and left a fair amount of blood in its awkward crevice. The belay station was packed with 6 other climbers.. Twas intense. I got a bloody nose from a dood throwing rope for his climber, we laughed, but i was severely pissed. ha.
Next, was an off width of death, I LOVED IT! But we didnt have time to finish to the thumb so we headed down around 4 o clock, rappelling from hanging belay to hanging belay. Tooooo exciting. A good 8 hours of climbing, I was SPENT!

On monday, I did a 5.8 er .9 and dinked around on a 5.11
Than ended up leading a 5.11 climb called black monday. . . I missed the crux clip three times, falling to the next bolt. haha. Gave Chris and Josie a couple of heart attacks. Buuuut felt so good to finish a hard climb...I gave off a good victory grunt at the top "yippee Kiyay!"

Any who, Got home around 5 that day, and had to be ready to go to the GWAR concert at 6:30. I showered and passed out til 6:45 ... lucky my friend agreed to pick me up at 7 instead.
The opening band was pretty stellar, the next band sucked...and then GWAR...Well, GWAR was nuts.

They are elaborately dressed and very opinionated. They killed McCain, Obama, and Hilary on stage...spraying their blood all over the crowd. I was drenched. We were packed in, shoving people, dancing, and shivering from the colorful liquids all over, SOOOO much fun! Loved it. I scared T when I got home, looking like I had been to hell and back...take a gawk...I am not sure why there is green and blue in there? Ewww
